Of course, Überlingen and Lake Constance with their magnificent surroundings alone offer sufficient fascinating places to visit, but there is also plenty here to interest those who prefer sport and culture.


Tennis

The PTC TENNIS BASE in our park provides the ideal place to train. Markus Koenen (accredited German Tennis Federation trainer) can put together an individual coaching programme for you.

Depending on the weather and your preferences, you can choose to play in our outdoor courts or indoor court with its rubber granule flooring that is easy on the joints.

Our hotel is the ideal base if you are planning day hiking trips in the locality. Hiking maps are available from reception.

Bodenseewandern


The ‘Apple’ circular tour with 19 attractions along the Kirchstrasse starting from Frickingen.

The tour starts and ends at the fruit nature trail (Obstlehrpfad); along the way you’ll encounter the ‘Himmelreich am Aubach’ wetlands biotope, a ‘landscape room’, the workshop museum (Altheim), the Benvenut-Stengele house (in the centre of Altheim), the old cemetery, a nature studio, panoramic viewpoint, the plague column, the holiday rail station, the former Salem valley track, a natural adventure pool, the ‘Lohnmühle’ leather tanner’s museum (Leutstetten), the panoramic path, the Silberberg, the renaturation of the Hangquelle spring, the church and marketplace and the ‘Park of the Senses’. An apple symbol appears on the signs marking the trail. Duration: approx. 4 hours.


Hödinger Tobel

From the car park next to the cemetery in Hödingen, pass through the Hödinger Tobel nature reserve to Süßenmühle and then via Kurfirsten to Sipplingen. From there, follow the ‘Blütenweg’ along the lake shore through orchards toward Ludwigshafen. At the half-way point, climb up the steep lake shore slope to the Haldenhof inn and back to the start in Hödingen. Alternatively, take the opposite direction from the car park towards Sipplingen station. Duration: approx. 4 hours.

From Parkhotel St. Leonhard to Birnau abbey church

From the hotel, follow the lake shore path to the open-air Lake Dwelling Museum in Unteruhldigen and back – approx. 4.5 hours. Birnau abbey church is located above Lake Constance and the tiny village of Maurach.


Salem Palace

From here, follow the ‘Prälatenweg’ to Mendlishausen and the ‘Affenberg’, an open-air enclosure that houses some 300 Barbary macaques; via Mimmenhausen back to Salem Palace (approx. 5 hours including sightseeing time).


Heiligenberg and the Schwedenschanze

Palace park and knights’ hall. Walk to the Schwedenschanze and along the vista-rich high trail back to Heiligenberg (approx. 4 hours).


Aachtobel and the Maria im Stein chapel

Starting in Ernatsreute pass through the secluded Aachtobel nature reserve on your way to the Maria im Stein chapel; to the village of Hohenbodman with its 1000-year-old lime tree and the lookout tower; back down to Ernatsreute (approx. 4 hours).

Cycling

Bikes for tours in the locality are available from our in-house cycle hire service.

In addition to standard women’s and men’s city bikes, we also have ebikes available for our guests.

If you would like to bring your own cycles, we have a room in which you can safely store them.
